Manifest Destiny was the belief that Americans had the right to expand west across the continent. It was a justification to drive Native Americans from their lands in the West to make way for further expansion.

James k Polk was a champion of the manifest destiny. Polk reacted positively to the manifest destiny. He helped to champion it and had backings from many in the United States who also believed in the manifest destiny.

Santa Anna resisted the manifest destiny. Deceptively, he told Polk that, if he could return to Mexico, he would stop the war in America's favor. But when he arrived, he double-crossed Polk. He took control of the Mexican army and lead it into battle.

A native American of the plains had a negative reaction to the manifest destiny as it meant a forfeiture of their Homeland.

The mountain man made profit as they helped to set up the land west of the Mississippi for settlers to move in.
