Answer:

Story with the ending "I had never felt so embarrassed in my life".

Explanation:

Once during my college years, I had confidently volunteered to help out in the inter-college competition. Our college was hosting the event and so many volunteers were required for the event to help organize things and get everything ready for the day. Not really knowing what was required of us, I volunteered to be assigned to any work, as did most of my friends.

But I did not expect what was to be needed of me. Most of my friends end up helping either in the decoration or arrangement of seats and other required areas while I was assigned to the guest list and making sure everything was on point and ready for the guests. But what I did not expect was the need to welcome each and every guest that arrived and make sure they are kept up-to-date with the events and plans while at the same time, required to help out with their every query.

Before the main day, one of the faculty guests, Mrs. Kapoor had gotten sick and so the organizers had decided to ask another colleague of hers, Mr. Singh, to give the speech instead. I was given the task of informing Mr. Singh about the change in plans, which I was confident of doing well. But amidst the throng of people and the continual arrival of other guests, I was so caught up with welcoming the guests and at times, answering their queries that I totally forgot about the errand that I was supposed to do. By the time I realized my 'errand', it was all too late. So, imagine my horror when the welcome speech was to be made. Mrs. Kapoor wasn't there while Mr. Singh had absolutely no idea he was supposed to give the speech. When he was called on stage to give the speech, he blurted out that he wasn't informed about the change of plans. And it was all my fault that he had to make an impromptu speech then and there. The worst part was that almost everyone knew it was my responsibility to inform him about the change of plans. I had never been so embarrassed in my entire life.

sattari [20]

In this poetry, the abstract concept of "hope," which can also signify "desire" or "trust," is symbolically compared to a "bird," a real, living thing. The meaning of the term "bird" is broad. Birds are frequently perceived as being independent and free, or as spiritual symbols.

How is hope compared to a bird ?

American poet Emily Dickinson wrote the famous poem "Hope is the thing with feathers" sometime about 1861. In the poem, "Hope" is metaphorically transformed into a resilient bird that lives inside the human spirit and sings its song in the face of adversity. In essence, the poem wants to remind readers of the power of optimism and how little it asks of them. The speaker said that hope has never asked for anything in return and has always been a consolation in hard times. One of several poems by Emily Dickinson that rework an abstract concept using fresh imagery and figurative language is "Hope is the Thing with Feathers."
