8.1x - 4.5y = 5.4.....subtract 8.1x from both sides
-4.5y = -8.1x + 5.4...divide both sides by -4.5
y = (- 8.1/-4.5)x + 5.4 / -4.5...simplify
y = 1.8x - 1.2 <==

Answer:

The solution for y is y =\frac{8.1x-5.4}{4.5} or y =1.8x-1.2

Step-by-step explanation:

Consider the provided equation.

8.1x - 4.5y = 5.4

Solve the equation for y.

Subtract 8.1x to the both side.

- 4.5y = 5.4-8.1x

Divide both the sides by -4.5

y =\frac{5.4-8.1x}{-4.5}

y =\frac{8.1x-5.4}{4.5}

or y =1.8x-1.2

Hence, the solution for y is y =\frac{8.1x-5.4}{4.5} or y =1.8x-1.2

Which of the following is a solution of y + x < -5?
Setler79 [48]

Answer:

FIRST OPTION: (-4, -2)

Step-by-step explanation:

Given the inequality y + x < -5, substitute each solution given in the options:

1) For (-4, -2) :

(-2)+ (-4) < -5

-6 < -5 (This is true)

2) For (-3, -2):

(-2)+ (-3) < -5

-5 < -5 (This is not true)

3) For (-2, -3):

(-3)+ (-2) < -5

-5 < -5 (This is not true)

4) For (-1, -3):

(-3)+ (-1) < -5

-4 < -5 (This is not true)

You can observe that (-4, -2) is a solution of y + x < -5

Describe how you can determine the number of solutions when a quadratic equation is written in perfect square form.
pochemuha
A quadratic is an expression of the form ax²+bx+c.

If the quadratic is in the perfect square form, it could be factored to look something like this:

(x+a)² or (x-a)²

Both of the above forms have one solution, that is "-a" and "a" respectively.

So if your quadratic equation is of the form:

(x±a)² = b, where b > 0
You can solve for "x" by taking the square root of both sides and getting 2 solutions -- ±a±√b.

And if your quadratic equation is of the form:
(x±a)² = b, where b < 0
Then when you try taking the square root of both sides, you will have to take the square root of a negative number, which means you will not get a real solution. Therefore, there will be zero solutions.

And finally if your quadratic equation is of the form:
(x±a)² = b, where b = 0
Then you will have one solution -- ±a.

Hope that helps!
