The Kansas Divided Antislavery and <u>proslavery</u> groups rushed supporters to <u>first territorial legislature election</u> March 1855 , almost  <u>more than thousands</u> pro - slaver voters crossed from <u>Missouri</u> and voted in <u>Kansas</u>

<u>Explanation:</u>

There were rival governments in Kansas in 1855 that divided the people into pro slavery Missourians and antislavery groups. These Missourians also called themselves as Border Ruffians.

In March 1855, the first territorial election in Kansas is held. This election's result is the key to decide that Kansan would be a free or slaved state. More than thousand of border ruffians crossed the border of Missouri to Kansas to show their support to the pro-slavery candidates in the election.

They voted by defrauding to their supporters, even the governor of Kansas left it unnoticed to avoid bloodshed. As the result out of 39 seats, 37 seats were won by the pro slavery supporting candidates.
