Which statement best describes Thomas Paine's argument in this excerpt from Common Sense? I have heard it asserted by some, that

as America hath flourished under her former connection with Great Britain that the same connection is necessary towards her future happiness, and will always have the same effect. Nothing can be more fallacious than this kind of argument. We may as well assert that because a child has thrived upon milk that it is never to have meat, or that the first twenty years of our lives is to become a precedent for the next twenty. But even this is admitting more than is true, for I answer roundly, that America would have flourished as much, and probably much more, had no European power had any thing to do with her. The commerce, by which she hath enriched herself, are the necessaries of life, and will always have a market while eating is the custom of Europe.
a. He shows that while America earlier flourished because of Britain, it faces a bleak future if British rule continues.
B. He uses the anecdotal evidence to imply that America faces a bleak future if British rule continues.
C. He refutes the idea that America depends on Britain, using the opinion that America's trade has a secure future.
D.He implies that America's connection to Britain had prevented it from engaging in trade with European countries.

The answer is:

D. He implies that America's connection to Britain had prevented it from engaging in trade with European countries.

According to the excerpt from "Common Sense," Thomas Paine claims the United States would have done better without the rule of Great Britain. Therefore, he suggests that America would have profited a lot more by exchanging goods with European countries if it had not been under British management.

I NEED HELP PLEASE THE QUESTION IS: Explain how scientists believe the earths for layers were formed. i need help on this please
Julli [10]
When the Earth cooled from being hot, all the iron and nickel was concentrated inside the Earth forming the inner two layers, inner solid core and outer liquid core. Then with the passage of time the Earth solidified gradually and the mantle solidified and now at this stage the Earth's crust, the outer most part of the Earth, looks like it's final product (the way it does now).

In what way is Zaroff portrayed as Rainsford’s foil?
dalvyx [7]
I believe the correct answer is <span>Zaroff has no conscience, while Rainsford does have a conscience.
As you can see in the excerpt, Zaroff is not opposed to murdering other people, which he considers to be just a type of hunting. He doesn't value human life at all, and is indifferent towards whether they live or die, which is why his character is different from that of Rainsford's.

In at least 150 words, analyze Hemingway’s choice of not giving the male character a name.
babymother [125]

Answer:

Although “Hills Like White Elephants” is primarily a conversation between the American man and his girlfriend, neither of the speakers truly communicates with the other, highlighting the rift between the two. Both talk, but neither listens or understands the other’s point of view. Frustrated and placating, the American man will say almost anything to convince his girlfriend to have the operation, which, although never mentioned by name, is understood to be an abortion. He tells her he loves her, for example, and that everything between them will go back to the way it used to be. The girl, meanwhile, waffles indecisively, at one point conceding that she’ll have the abortion just to shut him up. When the man still persists, she finally begs him to “please, please, please, please, please, please” stop talking, realizing the futility of their conversation. In fact, the girl’s nickname, “Jig,” subtly indicates that the two characters merely dance around each other and the issue at hand without ever saying anything meaningful. The girl’s inability to speak Spanish with the bartender, moreover, not only illustrates her dependence on the American but also the difficulty she has expressing herself to others.
