Primary interest in designing randomised block experiment is to : reduce the within treatment variation, to more easily detect differences between means.
A randomised block design involves the experimenter dividing subjects into subgroups known as blocks. The blocks are designed as to reduce the variability within the blocks, compared to variability between the blocks. This intra blocks less variation & inter blocks more variation, make blocks mean well represent their differences.
