Answer:

 • They valued perseverance, bravery, and strength.
 • They believed the gods were active in people’s lives.

In this excerpt, we can see that the Greeks valued perseverance, bravery and strength. The passage describes how the character "weathered many bitter nights and days" and how he "fought only to save his life, to bring his shipmates home." These actions are described as being extremely admirable. We also know that the Greeks believed the gods were active in people's lives because of the references to Helios, Muse and Zeus.

Which themes are found within Jack London’s ""To Build a Fire""? Check all that apply. Belief in oneself is all that is needed t
Shtirlitz [24]

Answer:

I believe three options should be checked:

B) Nature is a powerful force and should be given great respect.

C) Humans can learn a great deal from animals around them.

D) Wisdom is gained by listening to those who have gone ahead.

Explanation:

"To Build a Fire" is a short story by Jack London. The main character unfortunately dies from the harsh cold in the Yukon territory in Canada. The first theme comes from his suffering and death: nature is more powerful than men, and it should be respected. The man in the story acts arrogantly when he thinks his skills and knowledge are enough to keep him alive. The second theme is that humans can learn from animals. The man is accompanied by a dog and, since the narrator reveals the thoughts of the animal, readers can see the dog is actually wiser. The dog knows when they should stop and make fire. He also knows that, if the man fails to save the both of them, he (the dog) must dig a hole in the snow to survive. Finally, the third theme is that wisdom can be gained by listening to those who are more experienced. The main character was advised by an old man in Sulphur Creek to not go out without a companion. His arrogance prevented him from listening but, while suffering, he remembers those words and realizes their value.

Miss Lottie’s house was the most ramshackle of all our ramshackle homes. The sun and rain had long since faded its rickety frame
Mademuasel [1]

Answer:

D.Switches between first person and third person limited

Explanation:

To answer this question correctly, we need to understand the differences between the perspectives. The first person point of view has the characteristic that it only allows the reader to experience the action and thoughts of a character within a book, which means that the first person is limited in itself. Also, it is grammatically characterized by the use of the pronoun I. The third person, on the other hand, gives a more integral perception of the story, a fuller view, and it is grammatically characterized by the use of any other pronouns except I. However, while the simple third person is limited also to only the emotions, actions, thoughts and feelings of one character, the third person omniscient detaches the reader from a single character and allows him/her to have full view of all the characters, all the actions taken by all the characters and knows information that even the characters themselves might not know. The best way to know when a writer is using any of these perspectives, is by focusing on the pronouns being used. In this case, we have two instances. The use of the third person, because we have someone narrating the characteristics of the house of Miss Lottie, in comparisson with those of all others. It is also evident when the writer uses "our" that this person is part of the characters, so this person is narrating and also participating and whatever is happening is depending on this character´s narration. Then, after all the details, the narrator passes to the first person by saying: "There it stood and as far as I know is standing yet". This is why the correct answer is D. Switches between first person and third person limited.

Explain what a fused sentence is and four techniques that may be used to correct the error. Need answer ASAP
aksik [14]
A fused sentence is also called a run-on (may make it easier to understand what this is) This only occurs when a writer has connected two main clauses with no punctuation. Example: I have a animal pet fred who I love so much he is my most prized possession says mom.
