This results in alteration of  polypeptide sequences of the protein ; resulting in wrong sequence  of amino acids  been coded for  ; leading to translation of  wrong amino sequence , wrong polypeptide chains being  expressed and eventually  wrong  gene expression.

This is based on the fact that  a gene is a length of DNA that codes for a particular polypeptide, therefore if this length is disrupted, then the polypeptide and protein been coded for will also be affected.
