Pire/pis →
Il n'est pire aveugle que celui qui ne veut pas voir. Tout va de mal en pis, disent les pessimistes. Les époux sont unis pour le meilleur et pour le pire. C'est vous-mêmes qui avez pris cette décision, et c'est tant pis pour vous. Le proverbe dit: "Un coup de langue est parfois pire qu'un coup de chance"
Translation : He is the worse blind person than the one who does not want to see. Everything goes from bad to worse, say the pessimists. The spouses are united for better or for worse. It is yourselves who made this decision, and it is too bad for you. The said proverb: " a lick is the sometimes worse than a stroke of luck "

Plus/davantage →
L'amour propre est plus habile que n'importe quel flatteur. Souvent le monde récompense les apparences du mérite davantage que le mérite même. Vous promettez beaucoup et donnez davantage. (Corneille) Je ne m'attarderai pas davantage/Ne restez pas plus!
Translation : The self-esteem is more skillful than any flattering. Often the world rewards the appearances of the merit more than the merit. You promise a lot and give more. (Corneille) I shall not linger davantage/Ne stay no more!

Moindre/moins →
La moindre des choses est de vous excuser. C'est moins que rien. Il a dix francs de moins. C'est le moindre de mes soucis. Le moindre effort lui coûte. C'est une région moins connue, avec le climat le moins humide du continent.
Translation : The slightest of things is to excuse you. It's nothing at all. He has ten francs less. It is the slightest of my concerns. The slightest effort costs to him. It is a less known region, with the least wet climate of the continent.

Lesson :
"Pire" is the higher degree comparative of the adjective "mauvais", he must be thus used as an adjective.
Example: Le climat n'est pas pire qu'il y a deux jours.

"Pis" is the higher degree comparative of the adverb "mauvais", it is thus an adverb.
Example: Il agit de mal en pis.

Small trick :
"Pis" can be replaced by "mieux".
Example: Tant pis s'il ne vient pas → Tant mieux s'il ne vient pas.

"Pire" can be replaced by "meilleur".
Example: La situation était pire → La situation était meilleure

Would you use Tu and Vous with the following person
UkoKoshka [18]
Hi !

1) Would you use "tu" or "vous" with the following persons

2- Mr Bernard = vous
3- Melle Fournier = vous
4- Thomas = tu
5- Sylvain = tu
6- Doctor Martin = vous
7- Sylvain = tu
8- Marie-France = tu

Usually when you call s.o by his first name, it's s.o you're friend with, so you call him "tu". If you call him by his last name, his surname, it's a person you know less; so it's "vous" (it's a question of courtesy like the Usted and Ustedes in Spanish if you ever study it !!!)

hope I helped !!!
