Explanation: The Albany plan of Union didn't succeed because the colonies were so afraid of losing power and their autonomy (self government) to the Crown.

Initially, the convention delegates approved the Albany Plan in unison but the legislatures of all seven colonies rejected it.

This rejection arose because it will take away most of their existing powers and limit their control having considered all these, the colonies never submitted the Albany Plan.

The British Crown wanted to rule them but they never wanted the Crown to rule over them and take away their control, they wanted a self government.
