Answer:

C. He drank more than usual

Explanation:

This question refers to Roald Dahl's short story "Lamb to the Slaughter".

Mary Maloney is waiting for ger husband Patrick to arrive home from work. She is sewing and seems quite happy and enjoys that everyday routine of welcoming Patrick every day at the same time.

She takes his coat, makes him a drink and patiently waits for him to finish his drink for the conversation to slowly start:

"She loved the intent...and especially the way he remained silent about his tiredness, sitting still with himself until the whiskey had taken some of it away."

The first signal that something is unusual was Patrick's quick pouring of his drink and wish to get another:

"And as he spoke, he did an unusual thing. He lifted his glass and drained it in one swallow although there was still half of it"

Final confirmation that something indeed was going on was his insisting on her sitting down as he had to tell her something important.

. Is technology the opposite of nature? Explain.
Vladimir79 [104]

Advanced technology can be considered indistinguishable from nature, whereas nature is the opposite of technology. The natural environment is wild and untouched by humans, but climate change is affecting every part of the planet, regardless of where they are located.

There is an inherent conflict between technology and nature. In the past, it has been proven that such commodities are produced at the expense of the environment because they destroy ecological habitats in the process of their production. Moreover, the steel that it produces comes from mines, the lumber that it harvests from forests, the rare metals that it extracts from the ground, and the plastics that it burns from oil that is extracted from mines.

Hope this helps :)

Which line from "The Golden Cat" is an example of alliteration?
Marrrta [24]

Alliteration is the repetition of the same consonant sound in initial position in a series of words.

So, the correct answer here is B (Great is the Golden Cat who treads) as the sound "G" is repeated in the words "great" and "golden".

In answers A, C and D no consonant sound in initial position is repeated, so there is no example of alliteration.
