The theme is clearly about purpose in life.

Seeker lived to fill the purpose given to him, but it was not what he wanted. It was not how he saw his own purpose. On the other hand, he was so used to following his father's steps and orders that now he was lost and for a moment, unsure of how to procede, even though he knew exactly what he wanted to be.
