How did governments change in Europe from the 1600s-1700s?
kondor19780726 [428]

Answer:

The 1600s and 1700s were a time of profound religious, intellectual, and political turmoil across the globe. In Europe, the Protestant Reformation, which challenged the religious and political power of the Catholic Church, led to the Thirty Years' War in the early 1600s. The Thirty Years' War devastated much of Central Europe and led to profound divisions between Catholic and Protestant political states. In Africa and Asia, Islam continued to spread southward and eastward through trade networks, population migrations, and the activities of missionaries.

The Protestant Reformation and the Catholic Church's declining religious and political power led to a period of great intellectual fervor across Europe in the 1600s and 1700s. Known as the Enlightenment, this period witnessed the development of intellectual movements promoting reason, democracy, political freedom, and rational inquiry. Enlightenment thinkers questioned civil authorities and developed new ideas about the relationship between a nation's governments and its people. These ideas gave rise to a period of political revolutions intended to overthrow monarchical rule and to install democratically elected governments in the late 1700s. The French Revolution in 1789 followed the American Revolution in 1776 and encouraged other revolutions throughout the Americas and parts of Europe.

In this unit, we will examine the interaction between religious and political beliefs in the 1600s and 1700s and look at how these ideas reshaped political, economic, and social life throughout the world by the beginning of the 1800s. We will also look at how political revolutions in the Americas had a global impact on political institutions and reshaped networks of trade and commerce throughout the world.

Which statement summarizes President Obama’s actions in Iraq and Afghanistan during his first term?
ankoles [38]
<span>The best and most correct answer among the choices provided by the question is the second choice "The Obama administration withdrew most troops from Iraq and prepared for troop withdrawal from Afghanistan."</span><span>

For all of Obama’s efforts at rapprochement with much of the world, he—like George W. Bush—was a wartime president. With the situation in Iraq continuing to improve and the target date for ending U.S. combat operations there approaching, in February 2009 Obama increased the U.S. military presence in Afghanistan to 68,000 troops. Throughout his presidential campaign he had argued that the focus of U.S. military efforts should be in Afghanistan rather than Iraq, and, with the resurgence of the Taliban in Afghanistan, the military requested that Obama deploy<span> an additional 40,000 troops there. After carefully weighing the situation for three months, Obama choose to send an additional 30,000 troops, a decision that was criticized by many in his party.

7. Which of the following do political parties NOT do?
lana [24]

Answer:

The correct answer is <em><u>B) Lobby members of Congress</u></em>

Explanation:

Political parties help to represent people in the US parliament. They are involved in all kinds of political activities such as selecting candidates, informing the public about their candidates and policies and even co-ordinate policy making.

However, their work does not involve lobbying congress members. That is something that is mostly done by lobbying groups that work closely with politicians to influence reforms and new acts that are passed in the congress.

The name texas is derived from a caddo indian name meaning what?
laila [671]

Answer:

Texas derived its name from a Caddo word from which means <u>friend.</u>

Explanation:

The word is "teyshas" and while it means friends, it also can mean allies.

Spanish explorers recorded it as Teyas or Tejas in the 1540s, believing that it was a tribal name. Later, it was applied to areas north of the Rio Grande and east of New Mexico.

The state's motto, "friendship," still reflects that heritage.
