Mary is too focussed on the past hardship she had to go through with her divorce and it’s affecting present day activities like her appointments.

Marybeth's time focus is<em> being sad. </em>She is late to her appointments because she is so mad and sad. Her trust is broken, and she thinks she is a bad person. This probably isn't true. Marybeth is going through hard times and making her not paying attention correctly.
