Enlightenment ideas helped influence people to overcome the present situation. The Enlightenment Movement began in Europe in the late 17th century. During the Enlightenment Period, people began to challenge the old regime and the traditional religious views which dominated society. The Enlightenment philosophical ideas are said to have caused revolutions like the American and French Revolution.
