Answer:

The value of x is 4 .

Step-by-step explanation:

Given as :

The two triangle is as

Let The smaller triangle = DEC

Let The larger triangle = ABC

The measure of side EC = a

The measure of side BC = x

∵ side BC = side EC         (as both sides of triangle are equal)

So, x = a + a

i.e x = 2 a

From the figure shown it is clear that both triangles are similar

So, the ratio of triangles are equal

i.e \frac{measure of side BC}{measure of side EC} = \frac{14}{3 x-5}

or, \frac{x}{a} = \frac{14}{3 x-5}

Or, \frac{2 a}{a} = \frac{14}{3 x-5}

Or,  3 x - 5 = 7

Or, 3 x = 7 + 5

Or, 3 x = 12

∴ x = \frac{12}{3}

i.e x = 4

Hence, The value of x is 4 . Answer

Pavlova-9 [17]

Answer:

$38.31

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

Pure silver that cost $33.48 per ounce used to form $24.35 alloy/ounce.

Question asked:

How many ounces of pure silver were used to make an alloy of silver costing $27.87 per ounce?

Solution:

At cost $24.35/ounce, pure silver is mixed = $33.48

At cost $1/ounce, pure silver is mixed = \frac{33.48}{24.35}

At cost $27.87/ounce, pure silver is mixed = \frac{33.48}{24.35}\times 27.87 = \frac{933.08}{24.35}  = 38.31

Thus, $38.31 ounces of pure silver were used to make an alloy of silver costing $27.87 per ounce.
