What role did social media play in politics in Iran in 2009?
Neko [114]

The social media in Iran, in 2009, as well as after that, has mostly been used for propaganda. The freedom of the social media, thus the freedom of speech too, are very limited, almost non-existent in Iran. The government holds strongly the social media and it decides what can go through and what not, with the majority of the content being focused around the government and positives about it, showing the opposition in bad light, and even more, showing the enemies of the country is evil and that they constantly plot something against them.
