Expressing Problems Clearly Explain the balance between police power and individual rights.

In every society, the government needs to have what are called police powers.  What this means is that the governments need to have the right to uphold the laws.  Governments need to have this ability so that they can protect their citizens from others who would seek to prey on them.  Without police powers, for example, there is no one to protect us from being murdered or robbed, or otherwise harmed.

The problem is that the government can take away our rights in the process of trying to protect us.  For example, let us imagine that the government is worried about drug use.  It therefore declares that it has the right to test any person for drug use at any time.  It also declares that it has the right to search anyone’s house at any time for evidence of drug manufacture, sale, or use.  This would be great for law and order because it would make it much harder to get away with drug crimes, but it would be terrible for our rights.

What sort of things do people need to be able to move?
Oksana_A [137]

It would depend on the person. If a person doesn't have much it could be as little as a suit case and some money, or as much as a moving van and a car packed full of clothes.

Main arguments for imperialism
Mumz [18]

Answer: Development as an excuse for imperialism.

Explanation:

Proponents of imperialism sought to justify their imperialist aspirations. Developed and powerful countries have always carried out imperialism over those who have not reached that development stage. Imperialism has always aimed to enrich itself at the expense of others. Yet to defend their aspirations, the imperialists have always pointed out that their main aim is to contribute to these underdeveloped countries' development. The construction of the infrastructure was a cover for that. Still, the real goal of constructing the infrastructure was to make it easier to transport exploited raw materials from third countries.
