Claude McKay writes his love for the country and hatred for the country in the poem "America", he illustrates his relationship and experiences with the country.

He portrays how African Americans were handled and how they are seen in the present times, he is very strong in overcoming depression and also has high hopes on the country hoping one day it will do better and be better for African Americans.
