Genetic variability

Explanation:

 • Sexual reproduction results in infinite possibilities of genetic variation or one can say sexual reproduction results in offspring that are genetically unique, they differ from both parents and also from each other
 • This occurs through a number of mechanisms, including crossing-over, the independent assortment of chromosomes during anaphase I and fertilization
 • With fertilization, more possibilities for genetic variation exist between any two people
 • Sexual reproduction is the random fertilization of a gamete from the female using a gamete from the male
 • In humans there are over 8 million (2^{23}) chromosome combinations which exist in the production of gametes in both the male and female
 • When the homologous pairs of chromosomes line up during metaphase I and then are separated at anaphase I, there are 2^{23}possible combinations of maternal and paternal chromosomes
 • During random fertilization, a sperm cell, with over 8 million possible chromosome combinations, fertilizes an egg cell, which also has over 8 million possible chromosome combinations
 • Together there are over 64 trillion unique combinations
 • Each human couple could produce a child with over 64 trillion unique chromosome combinations
 • Mitosis and meiosis are two types of cell division, with dramatically different products
 • Mitosis begins with a diploid somatic cell and ends with two genetically identical diploid cells whereas meiosis begins with a diploid cell and produces four haploid genetically unique cells that form gametes

Contact [7]
A supply curve is a graph that show the number of goods that a producer supply at a certain price at a given point in time. A decrease in supply will cause the equilibrium price to increase. When there is a decrease in supply, the price of the product in the market will increase and the equilibrium price will also increase.

In a well-fed human eating a Western diet, the richest source of stored chemical energy in the body is ________. In a well-fed h

Answer:

fat in tissue

Explanation:

Biomolecules like carbohydrates, fats etc. are well known for their energy storing abilities. Glucose, as a carbohydrate, is the most used source of energy but is stored in excess as glycogen in the muscle and liver cells.

However, fats are far more efficient in storing energy than carbohydrates or proteins because they give more ATP per molecule. Fats are stored in tissues of the body called ADIPOSE tissues. Hence, the richest source of stored chemical energy in the body is FATS IN TISSUES.

aalyn [17]

Answer:

C. Beak size is an inherited trait in the finch population under study.

D. Birds that could eat larger, tougher seeds survived and reproduced during the drought.

E. Beak size varies among the birds in the finch population under study.

Explanation:

The presence of genetic variations among the individuals of a population is required for natural selection to be operative. Natural selection targets the beneficial genetic variations present in the population. Natural selection refers to the differential reproductive and survival success of organisms of a population due to some beneficial genetic traits. These organisms with beneficial genetic traits are able to survive and leave more progeny under prevailing conditions.

If the natural selection has occurred in the ground finch population for the beak size, the beak size should be a genetic trait since natural selection works on genetic traits only. The finch population should have variations with respect to the beak size. The finches having the larger beak size that enabled them to feed on larger, tougher seeds should have higher survival and reproductive fitness during the drought.

Under these conditions, natural selection would favor the finches with larger beak size and would eventually result in an increase in the average beak size of the future generations.
