They excel all others at ship building and sailing. This is what made them stand out as they built some of the best ships in that period. They were once the neighbors of the Cyclopes. They were organized and civilized while the Cyclops was not. It is always growing season in Phaeacia. They were known to grow fruits and vegetables which were among the most exotic in Greece.

Select all the correct answers. Which two excerpts appear toward the end of the plot structure of Jack London's "Up the Slide"?
marusya05 [52]

Answer:

He sat down and looked at the treacherous snow-covered slope. It was manifestly impossible for him to make it with a whole body, and he did not wish to arrive at the bottom shattered like the pine tree.

Halting his dogs beneath, on the river ice, he looked up, and after some searching, rediscovered it. Being dead, its weather-beaten gray so blended with the gray wall of rock that a thousand men could pass by and never notice it. Taking root in a cranny, it had grown up, exhausted its bit of soil, and perished. Beneath it the wall fell sheer for a hundred feet to the river.

Answer:

Prefix: de

Suffix: Ize

Explanation:

  • A prefix is a part of a etymology that modifies are word at the start of it: i.e. reconsider, involuntary, uncover.
  • A suffix is the same thing but it modifies the end of a word: i.e. walked, bigger, reversible.
  • De is a prefix meaning "down, away" or "denoting removal or reversal". In this case it is referring to demagnetizing something, or removing the magnetization.
  • Ize is a suffix meaning to "make or become". This is referring to an object becoming magnetized.
