Most of these people are also running from some of the worst and most violent places on Earth, where gangs basically run complete cities and the murder rate is extremely high. Basically, for many of these families (which also have children) its either take the risk in hopes of a better and safer life for their families or live there whole lives (however short it may be) in poverty and fear.
