It is appropriate to break the rule that requires subjects joined by and to use a plural verb when either  and neither are subjects. They always take singular verb.

For example :
Either of us is capable of doing the job

hope this helps

<em>"but the great man is he who in the midst of the crowd keeps with perfect sweetness the independence of solitude." This is the line that conveys what you are asking. In other words, it talks about keeping your individuality even in a "crowd," or with others. But if you analyze it, he still does not encourage withdrawing from the crowd but being "in the midst" of society while maintaining your independence/ individuality.</em>

Help me analyse these quotes
irina1246 [14]

"Why bless your heart alive" might mean that the charecter is not only glad to be alive, but is kind, generous and other heartfelt things.  But the next part "how late you are" might mean that the charecter has done somethings in his/her past that oppose those "heartfelt" things.  The person who is speaking, is reminding the other person that she is "late" in being kind, generous, etc.

It relates to "we'll never mind so long as you are come" because that means, we won't mind what you are, as long as you have overcome something.

Hope this helps!
