The population changed from about 46,000 to 301,000. People immigrated from Europe, or other states. African Americans came from the south.

Most of his efforts are planning and finding funding while in exile. His influence of locals and Chinese living in different countries poured donation that funded his cause. He also attempted to make an alliance with the different nation like Japan and Philippines however, he failed.

The original purpose of dropping atomic bombs were to, instead of sending in troops, drop an atomic bomb on your city of choice and wipe out everyone in a mile's radius. That is the short term effect. But the long term effects include nuclear radiation which poisons people in a much larger radius, while contaminating the environment for an extended period of time.
