The Moon appears to change shape because we see different amounts of the lit part as the Moon orbits Earth. When the Moon is between Earth and the Sun, the lit side is hidden from us. As it moves around Earth, more and more of the lit side comes into view.
The Mayflower Compact was created by the male leaders of the separatist group. The goal of the compact was to ease the worry of the "strangers" or people with them who were not separatists. The compact stated all decisions would be made by a majority vote to include all male citizens.
