Answer:

Each book costs $17

Step-by-step explanation:

<u>Step 1:  Make an expression </u>

147 total -> 147 =

8 books -> 8x

11 left -> 11

<u>Expression:</u>  147 = 8x + 11

<u>Step 2:  Subtract both sides by 11 </u>

147 - 11 = 8x + 11 - 11

136 = 8x

<u>Step 3:  Divide both sides by 8 </u>

136 / 8 = 8x / 8

17 = x

Answer:

$17

Step-by-step explanation:

Books = x

1. Set up an equation.

147 - 8x = 11

2. Solve for x

147 - 8x = 11

-8x = 11 - 147

-8x = -136

x = -136 / (-8)

x = 17

So, each book cost $17.

Which of the following statements are true? check all that apply.

From graph we see that midline in the box for company A is on the right side of 31. If we divide space between 31 and 32 then midline appears to be using 1/4th of that space which is 0.25 more than 31

Hence median for the company A is 31.25.

Which is given as one of choices so the first choice is correct.

From graph we see that midline in the box for company B is on the right side of 32. that is exactly between 32 and 33 so we can say that 0.5 more than 32

Hence median for the company B is 32.5.

Which is given as one of choices so the second choice is correct.

clearly 31.25 and 32.5 are not equal.

So third choice is false.

Company A has midline 31.25 which is less than 32.5 for company B so yes sales for company A tend to be

smaller than the number of sales for company B

Hence 4th choice is correct.

I have done this several times and do not find that x is an integer.  I get an imaginary number.  Crazy as it seems, here's what I got all 3 times I did this:-\frac{286}{50} +/- \frac{16i \sqrt{159} }{50}.  That is definitely NOT an integer!
