Olympus Mons
The largest volcano on Mars is also the solar system's tallest mountain. Measuring 374 miles in diameter, it covers about the same amount of land as the state of Arizona. Olympus Mons is located near three other volcanoes known as the Tharsis Montes.
Earth is closest to the sun at a point called perigee.
The point at which the Earth is farthest from the sun is called the apogee, just in case you needed to know that one too.
As you increase in elevation, there is less air above you thus the pressure decreases. As the pressure decreases, air molecules spread out further (i.e. air expands) and the temperature decreases. If the humidity is at 100 percent (because it's snowing), the temperature decreases more slowly with height.
