Answer: The Embargo Act of 1807 was a general embargo that was promulgated by the United States Congress. The law was designed to prohibit US ships from trading and interacting with foreign ships in foreign ports. The law was intended primarily for French and British ships and was enacted as a reaction to the seizure of US ships that were suspected of smuggling war.

Britain and France war - they were fighting since 1803

France prohibited trade between neutral parties - French warships began seizing American ships 1806

Britain prohibited trade between neutral parties and France - Britain began seizing American ships as well

Chesapeake-Leopard Case - the British warship Leopard and an American frigate Chesapeake, American did not liked and did the law. 1807

Why did the period of detente not succeed in ending the Cold War?
Viktor [21]

Hi there, so what i know is:

as détente broke down, progress on nuclear arms control stalled completely. As their relationship continued to erode, it became clear that both the U.S. and the Soviet Union had overestimated the extent to which détente would contribute to an agreeable and peaceful end of the Cold War.

I hope this helps! And remember to always give me feedback if I got it incorrect, I promise I will make up for my mistakes :-)

How do you think the world would be different if the Protestant Reformation had never happened?
Vera_Pavlovna [14]

Answer:

Explanation:

If there had never been a Protestant Reformation, then there is a chance that most Christians in the world would be Catholic, and a chance that the Church would have collapsed. If, in this alternate history, the Catholic church did end up reforming and changing all the problems that Martin Luther was complaining about, then the Catholic church would probably be a LOT bigger than it is now.
