In the book "The Call of the Wild," Hal, Charles and Mercedes are awful at their tasks. They seem to be unable to survive in the wild, and they are terribly unprepared for dealing with nature. Moreover, they also seem unable to learn from experience or from their mistakes. Instead, they are unreasonable, spoiled, and impatient. After a series of mistakes become evident, instead of trying to solve them, the three only fight even more intensely.
