<span>y = x^2 -4x -21 = x^2 -4x +4 -25 = (x-2)^2 - 25.
</span>Now minimum y = - 25 and occurs at x = 2.
Therefore vertex is at (2,-25). We may factor <span>y = (x-2-5)(x-2+5) = (x-7)(x+3). x-intercepts </span><span>occur at those values of x where y =0.
</span>Now <span>y = 0 for x = -3 or 7.</span>

In the form y=ax^2+bx+c
the x value of the vertex is -b/2a

the x intercept is where th e linecrosses the x axis or where y=0

expand
(x+4)(x+2)=x^2+6x+8
a=1
b=6
x value of vertex=-6/2(1)=-6/2=-3
sub back to find y value
(-3)^2+6(-3)+8
9-18+8
-1
y value is -1
vertex is (-3,-1)

x intercept
set to zero
0=(x+4)(x+2)
set each to zero
0=x+4
-4=x
x+2=0
x=-2
x intercept are at (-4,0) and (-2,0)

vertex is (-3,-1)
x ints are at (-4,0) and (-2,0)

Need help with this :(
emmainna [20.7K]

Answer:

B.    m = \frac{3}{2}, y-int = 3

Step-by-step explanation:

To find the slope of the line, we need to plot two points

(2, 6) (-2, 0)

m = slope

Then use the Slope-Formula to Solve for the slope

m = \frac{y2-y1}{x2-x1}

m = \frac{0-6}{-2-2}

m = \frac{-6}{-4}

m = \frac{6}{4}

m = \frac{3}{2}

The Slope is \frac{3}{2}

The y-intercept is 3 because the line is going 3 units upwards on y axis!

Equation: y = 3/2x + 3

Slope: 3/2

y-intercept: 3

Use Part 1 of the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus to find the derivative of the function. g(x) = 7x u2 − 1 u2 + 1 du 6x Hint: 7x
VikaD [51]

It looks like you're given

g(x)=\displaystyle\int_{6x}^{7x}\frac{u^2-1}{u^2+1}\,\mathrm du

Then by the additivity of definite integrals this is the same as

g(x)=\displaystyle\int_0^{7x}\frac{u^2-1}{u^2+1}\,\mathrm du-\int_0^{6x}\frac{u^2-1}{u^2+1}\,\mathrm du

(presumably this is what the hint suggests to use)

Then by the fundamental theorem of calculus, we have

\dfrac{\mathrm dg}{\mathrm dx}=7\dfrac{(7x)^2-1}{(7x)^2+1}-6\dfrac{(6x)^2-1}{(6x)^2+1}=\dfrac{1764x^4+169x^2-1}{1764x^4+85x^2+1}
