Weapons in WW1 were being mass produced and of a greater quality than those of wars before. Barbed wire, airplanes, poisonous gas, submarines etc were introduced which revolutionized war today. Trench warfare was countered and is no longer used to fight.

Answer:

Weapons are now being produced to counter Trench Warfare. The idea is to keep a strong defensive while creating weapons to at least try an offensive. The gas would settle in the low spots, forcing soldiers out of the trenches and out into the open.

Why didn't the three Baltic states join the Commonwealth of Independent States? Why do you think that Estonia, Latvia, and Lithua
wlad13 [49]
Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania cannot really trust Russia (the leader of the Commonwealth of Independent States) as Russia forcibly made those states part of the Soviet Union and and did allow for democracy there. That's why they don't want to be part of CIS. They  can afford not to be due to their location in Europe, next to western Europe, so then can claim help from western Europe in case of Russian Invasion (unlike Kazakhstan for example).
