Why was Rockefeller’s use of horizontal integration such an effective business tool at this time? Were his choices legal? Why or

why not?

Answer: Horizontal integration enabled Rockefeller to gain tremendous control over the oil industry and use that power to influence vendors and competitors. For example, he could pressure railroads into giving him lower rates because of the volume of his products. He undercut competitors, forcing them to set their prices so low that they could barely stay in business—at which point he could buy them out. Through horizontal integration, he was able to create a virtual monopoly and set the terms for business. While his business model of a holding company was technically legal at that time, it held as much power as a monopoly and did not allow for other businesses to grow and compete.

Which was a cause of the dust bowl in the great plains?
pickupchik [31]

A cause of the dust bowl in the great plains was that Farmers did not plant enough wheat to maintain the soil.

Further Explanations:

The “Dust Bowl” was the era of severe dust storm and famine in America during the 1930s. It left a very hazardous impact on the ecology and the agriculture of the nation. The drought hit the land three times and its impact existed for more than 8 years.

The main reason behind the drought was thought to be the failure of dryland farming practices that prevented the Aeolian processes. Due to insufficient knowledge of ecology, the farmers conducted extensive plowing of the virgin topsoil. The natural deep-rooted grasses were displaced by the crops that loosened the soil and reduced the moisture of the soil. Further, the modern agricultural machines also led to the loosening of the soil. The gasoline tractors along with the combined harvester helped farmers to convert the grassland into cultivated land and the same time opened the door for extensive erosion.

The 18th amendment and the volstead act were victories for which long enduring cause
Wittaler [7]
The 18th Amendment and the Volstead Act were victories for the long enduring cause of Prohibition. Those two pieces of legislation banned the sale and distribution of alcohol within the United States, which inadvertently gave rise to bootleggers and organized crime as people continued to try to get their hands on alcohol during the 1920s and into the 30s before the passage of the 21st Amendment which repealed the 18th.

From the tone and factual content of the main body of reading, the answer should be
C <<<< answer.
Not A. We do not know if the industrial areas were in favor of Talmadge. They might have been or they may not have been. The reading does not make this clear.
Not B We don't know that either. The implication is that he got in by appealing to the rural areas because their vote meant more than the urban areas. If B is true, then he would have had to appeal to someone, but who?
We don't know if that was true or not. It could have been, but would he have been reelected 3 times if that was his public view?
