In the play "The Tempest" by William Shakespeare the character of Ariel was a spirit who had been imprisioned for twelve years by a witch called Sycorax. He was rescued by Prospero who forced Ariel to serve him. This is the reason why ARIEL DESIRED TO REGAIN HIS FREEDOM, FIRST FROM THE WIRCH AND THEN FROM PROSPERO.
