Answer:

The president exercises a check over Congress through his power to veto bills, but Congress may override any veto (excluding the so-called "pocket veto") by a two-thirds majority in each house. ... The President is not mandated to carry out the orders of the Supreme Court.n recent years, Congress has restricted the powers of the President with laws such as the Congressional Budget and Impoundment Control Act of 1974 and the War Powers Resolution; nevertheless, the Presidency remains considerably more powerful than during the 19th century. The Constitution explicitly assigns the president the power to sign or veto legislation, command the armed forces, ask for the written opinion of their Cabinet, convene or adjourn Congress, grant reprieves and pardons, and receive ambassadors.

What might have happened if the National Government could only legislate based on what is specifically in the Constitution?
EastWind [94]
The amount of territory the US currently has would have been completely different if the national government could only legislate based on what is written in the constitution.

A perfect example of this is the power to purchase land/territories from other countries. This was first done by Thomas Jefferson with the Louisiana Purchase of 1803. The US Constitution does not say that the president has the power to buy land from other countries. However, Jefferson said that this power was "implied" by the Constitution.

This idea of an implied power greatly changed the presidency/national government. Several presidents after Jefferson would follow his lead by making deals with countries for territory.

If it wasn't for this concept of implied powers, the US may not have grown to the 50 states we know it as today.

Bill Clinton helped create a large free market among Canada, the United States, and Mexico with ratification of the ________ tre
Artyom0805 [142]

Answer:

NAFTA

Explanation:

The NAFTA, the short for the North American Free Trade Agreement, was signed by the former President Bill Clinton as he supported neoliberal reforms between the member states of Canada, US and Mexico.

He is famous for a speech where he expresses the alleged gains that were promised on December 1993.

According to him, "NAFTA means jobs. American jobs, and good-paying American jobs. Interesting would be to notice whether the results were indeed generalized to the workers and the economy of the neighbouring countries. Undoubtly the Treaty has boosted economical activity, however from a sociological or crticial view, even at that time Congress strongly debated the consequences in the future.

In Mexico this caused the increased dependency and assymetric relationship between North and South that today continues to be a challenge in the world. Causing the gap between economies to broaden.
