The upside down 'U' shape means intersection which means find the terms that are in both of the groups so  for example (2,4,6,7)<u /> (upside down U shape) (3,5,7) the answer would be (7) because 7 is in both of the sets
<u><</u> means less than or equal to
<u>></u> means more than or equal to
so so 4-x<u><</u>-1
if we convert this to x=something then
add x to both sides
4<u><</u>x-1
add 1 to both sides
5<u><</u>x

the second equation is 2+3x<u>></u> 17
subtract 2 from both sides
3x<u>></u>15
divide both sides by 3
x<u>></u>5

so the intersection of 5<u><</u>x and x<u>></u>5 is 5<u><</u>x<u>></u>5 or 5<u><</u>x so the solution set is x={x|x<u>></u>5} or any number more than or equal to 5 will work<u />

Which of the following has a specific definition in geometry?
finlep [7]

Answer:

a line

Step-by-step explanation:

In geometry, we can define a line as a straight one- dimensional figure without thickness but extends infinitely in both directions.

If we are to put it into more understandable words, we can describe a line as the shortest distance between any two points.

A line has a specific definition in geometry. Every other option listed do not have specific definition in geometry.

A house painter has an annual income of $35,000 and paid $2,500 in income tax. What percent of her income is the income tax?
almond37 [142]

Answer:

The 7.14% of her income is the income tax .

Step-by-step explanation:

Formula

Percentage = \frac{Part\ value\times 100}{Total\ value}

As given

A house painter has an annual income of $35,000 and paid $2,500 in income tax.

Here

Part value = $2500

Total value = $35000

Put in the formula

Percentage = \frac{2500\times 100}{35000}

Percentage = \frac{250000}{35000}

Percentage = 7.14\ (Approx)

Therefore the 7.14% of her income is the income tax .
