The four factors that influence ocean currents are winds, water density (the amount of salt in water and its temperature), the ocean bottom topography and the rotation of the Earth (it creates two currents, one clockwise in the Northern Hemisphere and one counter-clockwise in the Southern Hemisphere). Marine organisms, plants or animals, are not counted as a factor that affects currents.
