Answer:

a. Operating Break even Point = 18,616 units

b. Operating costs at break even = $259,877

c. If he sells 2,040 only then there will be loss as break even point is much higher therefore, he should not sell at this level.

Explanation:

Provided

Selling Price per unit = $13.96

Variable Cost per unit = $10.06

Contribution Per Unit = $13.96 - $10.06 = $3.90

Fixed Cost = $72,600

a. Operating Break even Point = \frac{Fixed \:Cost}{Contribution \: Per \: Unit} = \frac{72,600}{3.90} = 18,615.38

Since units can not be in fraction therefore Break Even Units = 18,616

b. Operating costs at break even = Variable + Fixed

Variable = $10.06 \times 18,616 = $187,276.96 i.e = $187,277

Fixed = $72,600

Total Operating Cost = $187,277 + $72,600 = $259,877

c. If he sells 2,040 only then there will be loss as break even point is much higher therefore, he should not sell at this level.

igomit [66]

Answer:

Overproduction of chemical and an underproduction of electric power.

Explanation:

From society's viewpoint, the chemical producer's pollution leads to overproduction of chemical this is due to the fact that there were not much costs incurred in the production of the chemical because the company decided to use a cheaper means to clear out their chemical waste which was carried out by disposal into the stream rather than the proper and expensive method which involves burying the chemical waste.

The electric power plant will experience an underproduction of electrical power due to an increase in variable cost which is as a result of the pollution of the stream by the chemical factory.

Suppose you invest $20,000 by purchasing 200 shares of Abbott Labs (ABT) at $50 per share, 200 shares of Lowes Companies, Inc. (
nikitadnepr [17]

Answer:

Portfolio return = 0.035 or 3.5%

Explanation:

The portfolio return is a function of the weighted average of individual stocks' returns that form up the portfolio. The formula to calculate the portfolio return is as follows,

Portfolio return = wA * rA  +  wB * rB  +  ...  +  wN * rN

Where,

  • w represents the weight of each stock in the portfolio
  • r represents the return of each stock

First we need to calculate the investment of each stock,

Abbott = 200 * 50 = $10000

Lowes = 200 * 30 = $6000

Ball = 100 * 40 = $4000

Portfolio return = (10000 / 20000) * -0.10  +  (6000/20000) * 0.20  +

(4000/20000) * 0.125

Portfolio return = 0.035 or 3.5%
