Answer this question Angie and her friends are 3/4 of a pizza.Her brother joe ate 2/3 of what was left.How much did joe eat?
Alja [10]
If Angie and her friends ate 3/4 of a pizza, that means that 1/4 is left.
Joe ate 2/3 of 1/4 of a pizza. To find out how much he ate, multiply 1/4 by 2/3.

\frac{1}{4}* \frac{2}{3}= \frac{2}{12} because you multiply fractions straight across.

Your answer is 2/12 or <em>1/6 of the pizza</em>

a counter top is in the shape of a trapezoid. The lengths of the bases are 70 1/2 and 65 1/2 inches long. The area of the counte
nekit [7.7K]
For the trapezoid, the equation used to solve for the area is,
                           A = (0.5)(b₁ + b₂)(h)
where b₁ and b₂ are the measure of the bases and h is the height. Substituting the known values above,
                          1224 = (0.5)(70.5 + 65.5)(h)
                                     h = 18
Thus, the height of the counter top is 18 inches.

NISA [10]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Here is the complete question.

Dominique, Marco, Roberto , and John work for a publishing company. The company wants to send two employees to a statistics conference. To be fair, the company decides that the two individuals who get to attend will have their names drawn from a hat. This is like obtaining a simple random sample of size 2. (a) Determine the sample space of the experiment. That is, list all possible simple random samples of size n = 2. (b) What is the probability that Dominique and Marco attend the conference? (c) What is the probability that John attends the conference?  (d) What is the probability that John stays home?

Since there are four employees to select the two to send from. then for us to get the sample space for the experiment we need to merge all possible two employees and represent them as set.

Let D = Dominique, M = Marco, R = Roberto and J = John

a) The sample space for the experiment is the total number of possible outcomes that we can have. It is as given below

S = 4C2 = 4!/(4-2)!2! (Selecting 2 out of 4 employees)

Total sample space = 4!/2!2!

Total sample space = 4*3*2!/2!2

Total sample space = 12/2 = 6

The sample space are S = {DM, DR, DJ, MR, MJ, RJ}

b) Probability is the ratio of number of event to the sample space.

P = n(E)/n(S)

Given n(S) = 6

n(E) is the event of Dominique and Marco attending the conference.

E = {DM}

n(E) = 1

P(D and M) = 1/6

Hence  the probability that Dominique and Marco attend the conference is 1/6

c) For John to attend the conference, the event outcome will be given as;

E = {DJ, MJ, RJ}

n(E) = 3

n(S) = 6

Probability for John to attend the conference is 3/6 = 1/2

d) Probability that John stays at home = 1 - Prob (John attends the conference)

Probability that John stays at home = 1 - 1/2

Probability that John stays at home = 1/2

I need help please for geometry
mart [117]

Answer:

EF ≈ 1.98

Step-by-step explanation:

Using the sine ratio in the right triangle

sin26° = \frac{opposite}{hypotenuse} = \frac{EF}{FD} = \frac{EF}{4.5 } ( multiply both sides by 4.5 )

4.5 × sin26° = EF

4.5 × 0.44 = EF , that is

EF ≈ 1.98 ( to 2 dec. places )

A rock is thrown upward with an initial velocity of 16 ft/s from an initial height of 5 ft. How much time does it take for the r
Bogdan [553]
Check the picture below.

so it hits the ground when y = 0, thus

\bf ~~~~~~\textit{initial velocity}\\\\&#10;\begin{array}{llll}&#10;~~~~~~\textit{in feet}\\\\&#10;h(t) = -16t^2+v_ot+h_o&#10;\end{array} &#10;\quad &#10;\begin{cases}&#10;v_o=\stackrel{16}{\textit{initial velocity of the object}}\\\\&#10;h_o=\stackrel{5}{\textit{initial height of the object}}\\\\&#10;h=\stackrel{}{\textit{height of the object at "t" seconds}}&#10;\end{cases}

\bf h(t)=-16t^2+16t+5\implies \stackrel{h(t)}{0}=-16t^2+16t+5&#10;\\\\\\&#10;16t^2-16t-5=0\implies (4t+1)(4t-5)=0\\\\&#10;-------------------------------\\\\&#10;4t+1=0\implies 4t=-1\implies t=-\cfrac{1}{4}\\\\&#10;-------------------------------\\\\&#10;4t-5=0\implies 4t=5\implies t=\cfrac{5}{4}\implies \boxed{t=1\frac{1}{4}}

since "t" is seconds it took, it can't be a negative amount.
