Handy guide:
Simple: Independent clause. "She went to the store."
Compound: Two independet clauses. "She went to the store, and then she picked her brother up."
Complex: An independent clause and dependent clause. "She picked up her brother at the store."
Compound-Complex: Two independent clauses and at least one dependent clause. "She picked up her brother, and went to the store to get bagels."
Heroes are supposed to be selfless, willing to risk their lives to save living things. If the "hero" is only saving things or people for himself/herself, he/she is not a hero.
