One of the best ways to do that is to point out any logical flaws she has in her argument. This would be the best way to defeat her in a debate because Jonas would be turning Amena's own words against her. I would say that it means that people were fearful from something behind them, and some people were lost, it was cruel and scary but at the same it was beautiful that would make you lose all faith then get it all back again.
