the declaration opens with a preamble describing the document's necessity in explaining why the colonies have overthrown their ruler and chosen to take their place as a separate nation in the world.

All men are created equal, and there are individual unalienable rights that governments should never violate. These rights include the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. When a government fails to protect those rights, it is not only the right but also the duty of the people to overthrow that government. In its place, the people should establish a government that is designed to protect those rights. Governments are rarely overthrown, and should not be defeated for trivial reasons. In this case, a long history of abuses has led the colonists to overthrow a tyrannical government.

In drafting the Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson (along with Benjamin Franklin, John Adams and other members of a committee assigned to prepare this seminal document) knew that he had to present a solid legal and moral foundation upon which to build support for secession from the British Crown. Independence from Great Britain was not universally supported, and Jefferson recognized the importance of presenting the case for independence in a cogent, persuasive manner.

Although writing the Declaration of Independence was not the only contribution of Jefferson to the life of the colonies, it was one of his most significant ones. In the Declaration, Jefferson expresses his political ideals. He conveys his opinion on what government should be like, and the responsibilities it should have towards its citizens.

Jefferson draws heavily on other legal documents of the time, such as the Virginia Declaration of Rights and his own draft of a Virginia constitution. With this in mind, in the Declaration, Jefferson established that the colonists have a right to rebel against Great Britain if they feel their rights are not being protected and their complaints are not being listened to. Jefferson starts by claiming that all men are created equal, and that they all have the inalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. He argued that Great Britain was not making sure that these rights were being protected, which gave the colonists the right to rebel.

What are some pros and cons on why it is good to have a social worker work with teens who are being abused? List at least three.
Naddik [55]
One pro is a social worker would take said teen to a better home where hopefully they won't be abused. Another pro is, the teens will have someone to talk to and hopefully someone to trust. A con is, the teen may end up in a worst foster home then the first home they are currently in. Hope this helped❤️

How does Bruno respond to conflict? What is his true character: Is he brave, or is he a coward? Use textual evidence to support
maksim [4K]

When Bruno's true character came out, he turned out to be a coward. He also turned out to be a friend who will not help when trouble is near you or them. Before Lieutenant Kotler came, Bruno said (paragraph 21) "I wouldn't mind him. This isn't his house, it's mine. and when Father's away I'm in charge. Can you believe he's never even read Treasure Island?" Bruno was trying his hardest to sound braver than he really was when he said that. When Bruno said that he hasn't even read Treasure Island, he was trying to act smart. Bruno also said "He's not going to mind," when he handed Shmuel the food, but when Lieutenant Kotler reappeared in the kitchen, Bruno stared at him. He felt the atmosphere grow heavy. When Lieutenant Kotler asked Bruno if Shmuel was his friend, Bruno's mouth dropped. When he was suppose to say yes to make things right, but then he realized that he couldn't because he was feeling just as terrified himself. That is when Bruno's true character came out and he came out to be a coward. Bruno was acting all tough and he even said that when his Father is away, he is in charge. Everything that he had said to Shmuel was all a lie. Bruno was like a different person when Lieutenant Kotler entered the kitchen. When Lieutenant Kotler yelled at Shmuel, he looked towards Bruno pleading for his help, but instead Bruno just stood there not even moving his mouth. A characters true character is revealed when they are trapped and have pressure on themselves. Just like Bruno had pressure on himself because he was terrified of Lieutnant Kotler.
