A company purchases office furniture for $9,500 in 2009. In 2019, the company moves to a new location, and they need to sell the

furniture. The value of the furniture decreases over time, as shown in the graph below, where the y-axis represents the value of the furniture, in dollars, and the x-axis represents the number of years since 2009.
The initial value of the furniture is $ .

The percent decrease per year of the value of the furniture is %.

The interval on which the value of the furniture is decreasing while the company owns it is [ , ].

Question 1)
Initial value of the furniture:

The initial value of the furniture is the value in 2009 at which company bought the furniture.  This can be observed from the graph that in year 2009 the worth of furniture is $10,000. The x-axis shows the number of years since 2009. So the value corresponding to t = 0 means the value in year 2009.

Question 2)
Percentage decrease in the value of furniture:

The initial value of furniture = $10,000
The value of furniture in 2019 = $1,000

Change in the value of furniture = 10,000 - 1000 = $9000
Percentage decrease in the value of furniture = Change in value / Original Value x 100% = 9000/10000 x 100% = 90%

Thus the value of furniture decreased by 90% from 2009 to 2019. This is a decrease over 10 years period. So, the percentage decrease per year will be 9%

Question 3)
Interval over which the value of furniture is decreasing:

This answer to this question is present in the graph attached with the question. As seen from the graph the value of furniture is decreasing over the entire interval i.e. from 2009 to 2019. So the interval over which the value of furniture decreased is [0,100]. In terms of actual years this interval can be stated as [2009, 2019]

For two events and , the probability that occurs is 0.8, the probability that occurs is 0.4, and the probability that both occur
sergey [27]

Answer:

P(B|A)=0.25  , P(A|B) =0.5

Step-by-step explanation:

The question provides the following data:

P(A)= 0.8

P(B)= 0.4

P(A∩B) = 0.2

Since the question does not mention which of the conditional probabilities need to be found out, I will show the working to calculate both of them.

To calculate the probability that event B will occur given that A has already occurred (P(B|A) is read as the probability of event B given A) can be calculated as:

P(B|A) = P(A∩B)/P(A)

      = (0.2) / (0.8)

P(B|A)=0.25

To calculate the probability that event A will occur given that B has already occurred (P(A|B) is read as the probability of event A given B) can be calculated as:

P(A|B) = P(A∩B)/P(B)

          = (0.2)/(0.4)

P(A|B) =0.5
