Grant came up with the idea of total war. Sherman carried out Grant's plan of total war. Sherman's march to the sea- started in Chattanooga. Sherman's March ended in Raleigh North Carolina. Sherman's march to the sea ended in Savannah, Georgia it was 600 miles.
