The Spanish-American War was a war between the United States and Spain in 1898. The main issue at play in this conflict was that of Cuban independence. The U. S. backed the Cuban rebels that seeked independence. The public was greatly influenced by a media campaign of anti-Spanish sentiments.
The United States eventually emerged victorious, and this meant the loss of the last remnants of the Spanish Empire, which was a great shock to Spain. However, the U. S. gained several territorial possessions, fuelling an interest in expansionism.
Apartheid (“apartness” in the language of Afrikaans) was a system of legislation that upheld segregationist policies against non-white citizens of South Africa. After the National Party gained power in South Africa in 1948, its all-white government immediately began enforcing existing policies of racial segregation. Contact between the two groups would be limited. Despite strong and consistent opposition to apartheid within and outside of South Africa, its laws remained in effect for the better part of 50 years. Does the child have a learning disability?
Are they at an age that is not fully developed so they may not have realized what they were doing?
The future is the children and the younger generations, so how can we expect to lock them away for their entire lives and in doing so possible cost the world one of the advencements this child may have made?
There should be some form of a contingency plan on the lifetimes sentence, especially for children under the age of 13.
