For quite some time now, calculators have had statistical functions built in.  Here we need to use the stat. function normalcdf, which has only two inputs when we're working with z scores instead of raw scores.

Here,

normalcdf(-100,1.25) = 0.894

This same result could be obtained using a table of z-scores.

A person standing cloes to the edge on the top of a 200-foot building throws a baseball vertically upward. The quadratic functio
RoseWind [281]

Answer:

See below in bold.

Step-by-step explanation:

A).  s(t)= -16t^2+64t+200

Converting to vertex form.

s(t) = -16 (t^2 - 4t) + 200

s(t) =  -16 [(t - 2)^2 - 4] + 200

s(t) = -16(t - 2)^2 + 64 + 200

s(t) =  -16(t - 2)^2 + 264

The maximum height is after 2 seconds and it is 264 feet.

B) The ball hits the ground when s(t) = 0 so we have:

-16t^2+64t+200 = 0

x [-64 +/- sqrt (64^2 - 4*-16*200) ] / -32

x = 6.06, -2.06

So the answer is 6.06 seconds.

If the circulation for newspaper 1 is 382 thousand more than the circulation for newspaper 2 and their combined is 2502 thousand
goldenfox [79]

If the circulation for newspaper 1 is 382 thousand more than the circulation for newspaper 2 and their combined is 2502 thousand find the circulation for each paper

Answer: Let x be the circulation for newspaper 2.

Then the circulation for newspaper 1 is x +382 thousand

We are given the combined circulation of newspaper 1 and newspaper 2 is 2502 thousand

\therefore x+(x+382)=2502

2x+382=2502

2x=2502-382

2x=2120

x=\frac{2120}{2} =1060

Therefore, the circulation of newspaper 2 is 1060 thousand and circulation of newspaper 1 is 1060 + 382 = 1442 thousand
