Answer:

y= 5x + 3

Step-by-step explanation:

I know this because 3 + 5 = 8 and as it goes on it increases by 5 so this will be your answer. I also took a test and got it correct.

Look for a pattern in the first three diamonds below. For the fourth diamond, explain how to find the missing numbers (?) if you
murzikaleks [220]

The general pattern that these diamonds follow is that the top number is the result of multiplying the numbers in the middle; while the bottom number results from adding these numbers. This pattern can be used to find the numbers in the fourth diamond. Moreover, the numbers that complete the diamonds are A (15,8), B (2,-3), C (4,2), D(4,8.5), E (-3.-4)

What is the general pattern in the diamonds?

Based on observation, you can determine in these diamonds the top number is obtained by multiplying the numbers in the middle, while the bottom number is obtained by adding these numbers.

What numbers complete the diamonds?

Diamond A

Top number: 15 (3x5)

Bottom number: 8 (3+5)

Diamond B

Top number: 2 (-2x-1)

Bottom number: -3(-2+-1)

Diamond C

4, 2 because 4x2 = 8 and 4+2 = 6

Diamond D

Top number: 4( 8x0.5)

Bottom number: 8.5(8+0.5)

Diamond E

-3,-4 because -3x-4= 12, and -3+-4= -7

What are the solutions of the following system? y=-2x^2 y=x-2
vovikov84 [41]

Answer:

x = 0.781 , y = -1.219

and

x = -1.281 , y = -3.281.

Step-by-step explanation:

Since both of the x terms are equal to y we can equate the x terms:-

-2x^2 = x - 2

2x^2 + x - 2 = 0

x = [-1 +/- √(1^2 - 4*2*-2) ] / 4

= ( - 1 +/- √(17)) / 4

= 0.781, -1.281.

When x = 0.781  y = 0.781 - 2 = -1.219.

when x = -1.281 , y = -1.281 - 2= -3.281.

If y varies directly with x, find the value of y when x = 27 for the direct variation with the given information. y = 7 when x =
ElenaW [278]

Given:

y varies directly with x,

It is given that y = 7 when x = -9.

To find:

The value of y when x = 27 for the direct variation.

Solution:

It is given that y varies directly with x, so

y\propto x

y=kx             ...(i)

Where, k is the constant of proportionality.

It is given that y = 7 when x = -9. Putting these values in (i), we get

7=k(-9)

-\dfrac{7}{9}=k

Putting k=-\dfrac{7}{9} in (i), we get

y=-\dfrac{7}{9}x

Putting x=27,  we get

y=-\dfrac{7}{9}(27)

y=-21

Therefore, the required value is y=-21.
