If you assume that the original price of the jacket equals X, that means that when it was on sale, the equation to finding the price after the 30% sale would be (1-0.3)X=21 (since 30% of X would mean that Keiko should've paid 70%). That would simplify to 0.7X=21. Therefore, the original price (X) will be $30.

Chang and Cal both collect pearls. Chang has three more pearls in her collection than Cal. Write an expression to represent the
natta225 [31]
Let <em>x</em> be the number of pearls in Chang's collection.  Let <em>y</em> be the number of pearls in Cal's collection.<em />

Chang has 3 more than Cal, so <em>x</em> = <em>y</em> + 3.
Adding both collections would be <em /><em>x</em> + <em /><em>y.</em>  It's easier to have an expression in one variable, so we will substitute what we had written about Chang in for <em>x</em>.
(<em>y</em> + 3) + <em>y</em> = 2<em>y</em> + 3.

Tell whether (-9,2) is a solution of x+3y≥-2
jok3333 [9.3K]

Step-by-step explanation:

<u>Substitute the point (-9, 2) into the inequality:</u>

-9+3(2)\geq 2

<u>Simplify:</u>

-3\geq -2 False.

-3 isn't greater than or equal to -2.

(-9, 2) is not a solution of x+3y\geq -2
