The Populist movement was a political and social movement that developed in the United States. The movement was mostly concerned with the worries and troubles of farmers. It intended to improve the conditions of the farmers and agrarian workers in various ways.

This movement was a practical, liberal response to the problems of the Gilded Age. The movement was practical because its strategies were extremely applicable and took into account the reality of these people. It tried to follow the accepted political paths, with the creation of a political party and the introduction of a candidate in the US election in 1892.

It was also a liberal movement because it rested on various liberal principles. It believed that people had the right to be listened to by their own government. It also believed in values such as justice, freedom and equality. Finally, it also believed in the intrinsic value of each person.

Why might a Roman historian like ammianus want to compare the huns to unthinking animals
KatRina [158]
The reason for this is that Romans were at the time a very highly developed civilization while the Huns, together with other tribes with which the Romans have dealt with in previous decades, were mostly nomads who did not have permament and grand settlements such as Rome at the time for example. For that reason, this might have made historians like Ammianus be inclined to think that Huns were savage brutes without the capability to think.
