Original Source Material Student Version Darwin's theory of evolution by natural selection is satisfying because it shows us a w

ay in which simplicity could change into complexity, how unordered atoms could group themselves into ever more complex patterns until they ended up manufacturing people. References: Dawkins, R. (1989). The selfish gene (3rd ed.). Oxford, England: Oxford University Press. While the theory of evolution does have detractors, I find it provides a very convincing explanation of how highly complex organisms such as humans could evolve from simple atoms (Dawkins, 1989). Which of the following is true for the Student Version above?
a. Word-for-Word plagiarism
b. Paraphrasing plagiarism
c. This is not plagiarism

Answer:

c. This is not plagiarism

Explanation:

In research, the term plagiarism refers to the fact of taking someone else's ideas or concepts and use them as if they were one's own. In other words, when writing a paper, we use someone else's work and we don't quote the original authors and it seems as if the words were ours.

In this example, we can see that the text shown <u>has a paragraph and at the end of each one it has the reference (author and year) indicating the person who actually said that before.</u> Therefore, this student is not taking someone else's work and passing it as his/her own and thus, this is not plagiarism

During the 1950s, American teenagers: a. declined in number within the general population. b. were prohibited from reading any c
agasfer [191]

The answer is letter C.

Explanation: In 1950 American society felt a sense of uniformity pervaded.

The conformity was normal, young and old people followed group norms rather than striking out on their own.

Men and women had been forced into new employment during World War II, but the war was over, and the traditional roles were reaffirmed.

The "American Dream" was not a dream anymore, it was a reality.

Why did Jeremiah have such a hard time convincing them that God would judge their sin and destroy Jerusalem and the temple?
koban [17]

Answer:

Jeremiah preached that God was angry with the Israelites and so he will send destruction to them, exiling them from their home. While the other false prophets talk of success and help from God, Jeremiah's message was of bad news which made it harder for him to convince them of the truth. thus, he had a hard time convincing them that God will judge their sin and destroy Jerusalem and the temple.

Explanation:

n the Book of Jeremiah, we see God speaking and asking Jeremiah to go and preach to the Israelites about his anger and the impending destruction and suffering that will fall on them. Talking of the Babylonians' attack and the exile of the Israelites to Babylon, Jeremiah told the people to return their faith to God and ask for forgiveness. Contrasted with the preaching of the false prophets' good news of victory and safety, Jeremiah's message is that of destruction and death, and others exiled to Babylon.

But the people chose to believe the false prophets who chose to tell them that God is with them and that they will be victorious in their fight against the Babylonian army. They also "<em>prophesy..... false visions, divinations, idolatries and the delusions of their own minds</em>." (Jer. 14:14). The people also find it hard to belief that God will break his promise of keeping His people safe, like he had promised. Since the 'good news' prophesied by the false prophets was a much better news than that preached by Jeremiah, he finds it hard to convince them of the punishment and judgement.
