The Columbian Exchange was a widespread exchange of animals, plants, human populations, culture, ideas, technology and diseases in the 15th and 16th centuries between America, West Africa, and the Old World. Among other animals, the horse was of great significance since it allowed the people of America to travel and find resources. The horses were also important for strengthening the military.
In 1893 the IBEAC transferred its administration rights of the territory to the British Government. The territory was then divided to form the Uganda Protectorate in 1894 and East Africa Protectorate (later Kenya) in 1895.
